The place is very nice, the room is very comfortable and wide, the service is excellent, the gardens are very nice and attract a lot of birds, a special place for bird photography, many of my best photos were taken from the corridor of the room in slippers, it also has beautiful trails with great possibility of quetzal sighting. The food is really delicious, it won't be cheap but it's really worth trying that chef's spoon plus it's buffet ( salads, main dishes and desserts ) so you can eat enough to be satisfied. I also loved that according to what I consulted there were 80 people in the hotel but it is well designed because it doesn't look like it.
It is necessary to foresee that the road that arrives at Savegre is dangerous, it is lowered almost all the 8 km and narrow for which there are sections where only a car fits, precipices scare a little, you must go compressing (to lower in a strong gear) or the brakes could be damaged, upwards also it must be a cart with force and in good state so that it does not cause problems to them. That is to say to take the precautions and nothing of excess of speed so that you can arrive at this beautiful place.

room, great; size, bed, fireplace, bathroom, garden. dining room, beautiful and food is abundant and generally very good. Other very attractive spaces. gardens are beautiful. transport service to the reserve is useful. wonderful reserve and its magnificent trails. Good idea the new viewpoint. employee who attended us in the morning when we arrived very nice. spa is very attractive. It is good that they try to be environmentally sustainable. It is a very special place and one of my favorites. Sometimes, besides, one meets the founder, don Efraín Chacón, one of the founders, who is an extraordinary man, of enormous wisdom.
I've traveled there many times in the last decade. Usually most of the employees are very nice; sometimes some are not as nice as they should be, but it's not serious either and most of them make you feel very good. It changes the staff a lot and it's a shame because you lose the confidence you had already gained with employees you know. The gardens are fabulous; however, there are some spaces where you could put even more plants.

The place is magical as a mountain destination. At one and a half hours from San Jose this place is the best you can get in quality price. It has trails with incredible views and in addition the hotel has the facilities of a first class SPA, perfect for relaxing as a couple. The food is a bit expensive, otherwise I think it's excellent!
Food options are limited as the hotel is secluded and food can be a bit expensive inside the hotel for a stay longer than 2 days. I think they could handle a buffet menu or a la carte meal option at more moderate prices, especially for nationals. The pillows should be more comfortable, and perhaps it would be valuable to improve the quality of cleaning items in the rooms (Soap and Shampoo), a place as beautiful as this deserves top quality products!

The hotel is located next to the Savegre River (said to be the cleanest river in Costa Rica), in the beautiful valley of San Gerardo de Dota. The hotel has good trails for birding and for getting to know the high altitude forest. The meals were very good and it is a privilege to meet the chef. The hotel is located in a very nice place at the side of Savegre River (said to be the cleanest in Costa Rica) in the beautiful valley of San Gerardo de Dota. The hotel has good trails for bird-watching and seeing the mountain forests. The meals were very good and it is a priviledge to know the chef.
The cost was at the limit of our budget (5 people) but still, the quality/cost ratio is good. The hotel was at the limit of our 5-person budget. Even so, the quality-cost ratio is good.

It is an incredible, magical place, its facilities are beautiful, welcoming, they treat you like a king, staff is helpful, since you enter you know you will enjoy the stay, chef is incredible in his role, his experience around the world is vast (He is French) in addition to being a great person, tells you jokes, gives secrets of their recipes, even we were in a free cooking class on Sunday, food is very rich and varied, they serve all the meats, salads, desserts, being a buffet you can choose from multiple options that are delicious, trails are very beautiful and have several options or levels depending on the pace or experience you have but slowly with patience and time anyone can do, they have several tours that offer also which are accessible, if you want to see the Quetzal this would be the best option, falls are a great option also if you are looking for adventure, rooms are clean and complete, have extra blankets, heater for the night because the temperature drops a lot, beds are very comfortable, bathroom even has a bathtub, are wide and overlooking the garden which is beautiful. With luck you can see quetzals and other local birds, river runs alongside the hotel. It also has a spa with excellent services.
Everything was perfect.
